As I said in my 2017 To-Do List, I’m not normally a ‘New Year, New Me’ type person, BUT there are some things I want to get done in 2017 & one of those is a overhaul of my bedroom!
After having a whole load of work to do at home over Christmas I spent a LOT of time confined to my room and realised it could really do with some TLC. We spend half our lives here, or perhaps even more if you work from home, yet I haven’t updated my bedroom since I was 12- a whole 9 years! (& yes, its bright pink with a garish floral wallpaper)
Not only is the decor out-dated but I’ve also become somewhat of a hoarder- I’m sure there must be some kind of correlation between loving the space your in and how you feel- kind of like ‘tidy desk, tidy mind’ on a larger scale. With this in mind, I’ve already started clearing out things I no longer need- gone are the 5 ‘bits and bobs’ drawers. In time, I’d like to redecorate completely- that’s currently not an option. Until then, I thought I should at least freshen things up a bit, starting with some new bedding!
I usually opt for something simple, and often white- if you follow me on Instagram this will be something you’re well aware of! (cough-flat lay background-cough) I’ve found some great duvet sets from Yorkshire Linen Company UK that won’t break the bank- definitely a bonus! Plus, white duvet sets will always match my room, no matter how I redecorate! The White Company also have some lovely options if you’ve got a bigger budget, as do Next and even Primark!
At this point, its pretty much common knowledge that I struggle to get to sleep at night- I’m hoping the fresh bedding will be the first step to a good nights sleep, what with fresh sheets always seeming more inviting I can only imagine that a new duvet cover will work wonders! I reckon if I have a cosy duvet I’ll be much more inclined to get into bed earlier and if I’m snug I might even manage to stay asleep- then I’ll be a morning person in no time, right? (if you have any better ideas please let me know!)
What’re your plans for this year? Do you have any specific goals you’d like to achieve or any renovations in mind? When I do get round to re-decorating I’m going to go for something quite muted, so that in future I’ll be able to completely change the feel of the room by changing up the accessories- if you have any suggestions please let me know, I’ve started Pinterest board that you can check out here
