My Flawless Base

You may have already read my ‘reviews’ of both the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and the Murad Mattifier, in which case you probably won’t be too surprised by this latest post. If not, I’ll give you a quick run down & let you know why I’m so impressed with this combination!

My skin has never been as good as I’d like! I suffered with acne when I was younger and it has never properly made its way out of my life, so I’m in a constant battle to try and control whatever spot pops up next. On top of this I also have more scars than I could count- while the spots only haunt me for a couple of days they seem to leave scars, a lot of which are raised, for a good few weeks AND I suffer with a lot of redness too, basically a recipe for disaster. Add to that my v oily t-zone and the extreme dryness that has made itself home on my cheeks, around my mouth and my eyebrows and my face is now like navigating a minefield.

Anyyyway, this is starting to become a pity party so lets move on to my recent

Estee Lauder Double Wear: in short, it’s almost invincible. It’s one of the only foundations I’ve come across that I would ever dare wear on its own. Nothing else I’ve tried holds a candle to it, when I hear people saying that Revlon Colourstay is a dupe I just don’t understand where they’re coming from. Double Wear covers he majority of my imperfections, last’s an age and doesn’t go patchy, plus the range of shades means it’s highly likely you’ll find a perfect match

Murad Mattifier: the world’s best multitasking product? A moisturiser, SPF and primer in one that keeps oil at bay all day and doesn’t dry out or irritate my skin. It also creates a fab base for makeup and makes it last all day! It’s not often you can actually count on a product to live up to it’s claims- or is that just me being cynical?

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer: I never ever expected this to be any good- the applicator always put me off and I thought I was happy with using my Vichy foundation as a concealer on my worst areas. On a whim I picked it up, there was probably a 3 for 2 offer and I’d seen plenty good reviews. I’ve not had it long but it has already firmly replaced its predecessor as my all over face concealer, its coverage is insane and I find it blends so easily. The only downside is the lack of shades but luckily enough ‘light’ is a great match for me!

What’re your go to product for a flawless finish? I am yet to find my powder to complete the set so let me know if you have any suggestions!

  • I’m still yet to jump on the Double Wear hype but I think I’ll make it my next foundation purchase! I’m currently loving my combination of Laura Mercier’s Radiance Foundation Primer, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation and similarly the Maybelline Eye Eraser x

    • I’ve been meaning to try a Laura Mercier primer for ages so will definitely go check that out, thanks for the recommendation!

  • I completely agree with you on the Estée Lauder foundation … I recently ran it and tried to see if I could find a dupe but NO LUCK! Nothing makes me foundation look as amazing as that .. And nothing lasts that long!! I’ll be picking up again hehe! Also .. I want to try that concealer so bad as I’ve heard so many people raving about it!! Fab post darling !!

    • The concealer is so good- definitely the best I’ve tried in a long while so if you can get your hands on it you won’t be disappointed, thanks Saira!

  • Emily

I adore the Eraser eye concealer too – it’s the product I’ve been waiting for, for such a long time! I’ve wanted to try Double Wear for a while and your glowing review certainly makes me want to commit!
